The school library program serves to instill a love of reading, inspire life-long learning, and foster independent library use. Students visit once a week with their class to check out materials and to practice information literacy skills and digital citizenship.
Parent are welcome any time Monday - Thursday to come check out our book selection. (The library is closed on Fridays.) When parents are familiar with our book selection they can talk to their children about books they might like to check out. Parents are also welcome to join their childs class during library time and help their child pick out books. Kindergarten classes come for 15 minutes once a week. Grades 1-6 come for 30 minutes once per week. Parents can check with childs teachers to find out the day and time that occurs.
Students may have 3 books checked out at a time. Occasionally, if a class is doing a report, or the teacher has put in a request, they can have 4 books out. No change for overdue books. The students just cannot check out any more books until the others are returned. At the end of the school year, if a book is still missing, the students will be asked to pay for the missing book. "Missing book slips" will go home the last 2 weeks of school.
